As part of its ongoing humanitarian efforts, the National Initiatives for Development Organization (NIDO), in collaboration with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and with funding from the Central Emergency Response Fund (CERF), successfully implemented a cash assistance intervention targeting women and girls at protection risk (IPA) in South Darfur.
This activity aims to support the dignity, safety, and basic needs of vulnerable women and girls—particularly those facing displacement, economic hardship, or gender-based violence risks.
During the latest distribution in Nyala, selected IPA beneficiaries received unconditional cash transfers to help cover their urgent protection needs, including access to hygiene supplies, health services, and other essentials. The activity was carried out in coordination with the Ministry of Social Affairs in South Darfur.
“This support helps restore dignity and independence to women and girls during times of crisis,” said a NIDO field officer.
The initiative is part of a broader project to promote the protection and empowerment of women and girls in conflict-affected areas, with a focus on preserving dignity and reducing harmful coping mechanisms.
