Rapid Response to Cholera Outbreak in Niteega Locality-Supported by UNCIEF

As part of the Cholera Rapid Response Program in Niteega Locality, and in collaboration with the Ministry of Health with support from UNICEF, the NIDO Organization for Development implemented a series of vital interventions aimed at curbing the spread of cholera and protecting affected communities.

Key Activities Implemented:

1️⃣ Conducted coordination meetings with health committees, the Executive Director, and community leaders to facilitate the work of the rapid response teams in Niteega and Al-Ban Jadeed.

2️⃣Established two Oral Rehydration Centers (ORCs) — one at Al-Ban Jadeed Health Center and another at Niteega Hospital.

3️⃣ Trained health workers on cholera case management, and conducted field surveillance visits to identify and follow up on active cases within the community.


4️⃣ Carried out water chlorination and household disinfection activities, in addition to health awareness sessions and an environmental sanitation campaign in collaboration with the Al-Ban Jadeed Youth Services Association.

✨ These collective efforts underscore NIDO’s commitment to strengthening rapid response mechanisms and ensuring healthier, safer communities across Sudan.
